When you order your Titan Custom Blast Room, you get a complete system, including a control panel (seen above in the center of the photo). A complex piece of equipment, the control panel is central to the entire blast room operation, including the:
Single wired NEMA-12 rated enclosure
Door mount disconnect switch
Motor starters
Start/Stop Buttons
Room lights switch
System operating lights
Safety door interlock and delay timer
24VDC power system for blasting
Each Titan control panel is designed for its specific blast room and features a single point of connection. Three-phase service is required for all Titan blast rooms – and we’ll design the control panel for either 208, 230, or 460 voltage.
Can we provide our own control panel to save some money?
You can, but designing the blast room control panel isn’t for the inexperienced – including your electrician, who may not fully understand blast rooms and their various components and electrical power needs.
Plus, you’re responsible for gathering all electrical components and installing them before our installation team arrives:
Motor starters
Fused disconnects
Start/Stop stations
Power supply for lights, dust collector, pressure vessel, elevator, etc.
If the electrical isn’t ready to go on installation day, Titan can still install your blast room, but we can’t perform any testing or train your team on how to use the various components.
You then incur an additional charge to have us come back for final testing and training.
Does Titan provide the control panel’s electrical schematic?
Yes, we provide all electrical schematics with our control panels.
Does Titan provide the electrical feed to the control panel or is that our responsibility?
Electric feeding from the main building power to the blast room area main control panel is your responsibility.
Electric feeding must be pre-run to the main control panel’s future location per approved layout drawing prior to the arrival of the Titan installation team. See our post, Preparing for a Titan Blast Room Installation for additional details.
What type of motor starters does Titan use?
The motor starter’s main job is to safely start and stop the motor. It also provides low voltage and over-current protection.
Most blast room component motors require a great deal of power to get up to speed. Although of short duration, the initial power surge that’s delivered at the press of the starter button is many times over the steady-state current. Motors are rated for this surge, and thus can be started or stopped without damage.
Because electrical components made in the US are the hardest to source, we default to the best quality of magnetic motors starters, regardless of origin.
How are Titan Blast Cabinet control panels different?
The motors are much smaller, which allows us to offer both single phase (110, 220 volt) and three-phase (208, 230, or 460 volt) control panels. Please inquire!
Are Titan control panels warrantied?
Yes, Titan stands behind its work and products. We install and test the control panel plus all of the blast room’s associated components.
Should you experience any problem with your blast room, blast cabinet, or its operation, contact us as soon as you can.
Be sure to watch our brief Blast Room Walk Around video. The Control Panel makes an appearance at 12 to 31 seconds.
